What is Yokogawa’s vision for its business?

In recent years, the world economy has undergone significant transformation as the result of globalization and the remarkable progress that has been achieved in information and communications technology. As one response to this, Yokogawa announced a long-term business framework in May 2015.

At the same time, we formulated a vision statement that says, “Through Process Co-Innovation, Yokogawa creates new value with our clients for a brighter future.”

To communicate the essence of this vision and encourage all employees to join forces in its implementation, we have also established "Co-innovating tomorrow" as our corporate brand slogan.

Mr. Nishijima graduated from the Faculty of Science of Tokyo Metropolitan University and entered Hokushin Electric Works, Ltd. (currently Yokogawa Electric Corporation) in April 1981.
In June 2011, Mr. Nishijima was appointed as a director of the Company, and in April 2012 assumed the concurrent title of senior vice president and was made the head of the IA Platform Business Headquarters. He was appointed president of the Company in April 2013 and CEO in April 2015.

What are your thoughts on the slogan “Co-innovating tomorrow”?

“Co-innovating” conveys our determination to engage in the co-creation of value through the development of solutions in long-term partnerships with our clients, and “tomorrow” expresses our resolve to move steadily into the future one step at a time.

And we also want to be a company that can not only respond to requests for solutions but also work with our clients to identify latent issues and come up with appropriate solutions.

We strive to meet our clients’ needs in a quick and comprehensive manner through the provision of products, solutions, and services and by working in closer coordination with our partners.

What direction will Yokogawa take in the future?

Taking advantage of the knowledge and experience that we have acquired over the years, we have recently extended our focus beyond production processes to include a wider range of business processes that directly tie in to factory and business management. We will now take this further by targeting the supply chains that link companies, and will aim to optimize the flow of information and goods.

Moving beyond our current focus on production automation, we will seek to strengthen our position in other fields. We have identified that Yokogawa is strong in the resource, energy, and materials industries, and will continue to target these areas. We will now also focus on industries such as life sciences, healthcare, and foods that are closely linked to health and quality of life.

Based on Yokogawa’s technology advantages in measurement, control, and information, we will encourage innovation with our clients and partners, and create new value that contributes to their businesses. “Co-innovating tomorrow” is the ideal that we will strive for.

Do you have any final comments?

Yokogawa was founded 100 years ago in Tokyo, and has become a global company thanks to the cooperation and support of many people. In Japan, we have had a tradition that has long emphasized relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and concern for others. I believe this tradition is honored throughout the Yokogawa Group and that we as a result are better able to build long-term relationships based on trust with our clients, and are also better able to work together with our colleagues around the world and take a team approach.

We appreciate very much the support that all our business partners have given us and are determined to make further use of our strengths as an organization to benefit both our clients all over the world and society.

I hope that we as a company will see it as a fulfillment of our dreams when we help our clients make their dreams come true.
