Yokogawa UK Limited held a coffee morning at their Runcorn office on 2nd November 2016 to raise valuable funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. As well as helping with the medical needs, Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical implications of cancer, and campaigns for improved cancer care.
Employees demonstrated their culinary skills, bringing an abundance of homemade cakes to the office, and helped to raise £278.96 for the charity. Julie Smith, Credit Controller for YEF-GB, who organised the event said: “Everyone enjoyed some delicious cakes, whilst catching up over a cuppa. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause to raise funds for Macmillan; and to further their work in ensuring no-one faces cancer alone.”
With an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK, the event also highlighted the support available to its employees in the workplace. Julie recently trained as a Macmillan Advisor and is available to assist Yokogawa colleagues who may have queries or require support. She said: “Cancer impacts so much on all our lives, and it is vitally important for all those affected by cancer to get the best support possible. Hopefully by offering a confidential service in-house, we can quickly alleviate any concerns colleagues face as individuals or as carers.”
