Yokogawa Employees Win International Standard Encouragement Award and 2015 IEC 1906 Award

Tokyo, Japan - October 30, 2015

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that Yokogawa employees have received the International Standard Encouragement Award from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the 2015 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 1906 Award. The awards were presented to the following individuals on October 5.

International Standard Encouragement Award: Shinpei Kurokawa

The Director of the METI Industrial Technology Environment Agency presents this award to promising young specialists who have provided significant support in the development of international standards in Japan. In 2015, 16 engineers were commended.

As an expert in the WG16 working group of the IEC/TC65 technical committee, which is responsible for industrial-process control and automation matters, Shinpei Kurokawa helped draw up the IEC/TR62794 technical report on a digital factory reference model*.

In addition, Mr. Kurokawa participated in and assisted in hosting an IEC/TR62794 international conference in Japan. And for the development of the ISO/IEC20140-5 standard, he also helped compile data used to evaluate the environmental impact of certain products.

Mr. Kurokawa: "I am honored to be awarded this prize. It is only through the guidance and support of others that I have received this award. Participation in the development of standards is of strategic importance in the expansion of our international business. I plan to stay involved in these activities to ensure that we stay internationally competitive."

2015 IEC 1906 Award: Hisanori Hayashi

The IEC presents this award to technical experts who have made a great contribution in the development of electrical and electronic technology standards. In 2015, 21 individuals belonging to IEC's Japanese National Committee received this commendation.

Mr. Hayashi made use of his expertise in wireless technology to play an important role in the IEC/TC65 SC 65B and IEC/TC65 SC 65C working groups, which deal respectively with matters relating to the standardization of measurement & control technology and industrial network technology. And for the various IEC/TC65 technical committees and its working groups in Japan, he also helped facilitate their relations with parties outside Japan.

Mr. Hayashi: "I am honored to be awarded this prize, and am filled with gratitude to all for their understanding and support of our international standards activities and their decision to confer this award. The development of international standards is one of keys to Yokogawa's global success. I would like to remain active in the development of international standards, and hope thereby to ensure the continued growth and success of Japanese industries."

Yokogawa will continue to play an active role in international standardization for the measurement and control fields.
