Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that Dr. Maurice J. Wilkins of Yokogawa Corporation of America has been elevated to the distinguished membership grade of Fellow of the International Society of Automation (ISA), a leading, global, nonprofit organization that is setting the standard for automation. The award will be presented at the 51*st Annual ISA Honors & Awards Gala, which will be held the evening of Monday, November 4 2013, at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Dr. Wilkins is Vice President of the Yokogawa IA Global Strategic Technology Marketing Center (USMK) in Dallas, Texas.
Founded in 1945, the ISA is an organization that sets and advocates technology standards for the control industry to improve safety, efficiency, and profitability at manufacturing sites. An ISA fellowship recognizes qualified ISA members who have made exceptional engineering or scientific contributions to the automation profession. Based upon peer evaluation, it is the highest grade of ISA membership. The criteria for selection are demanding and only a few members are elected each year, making this grade a coveted honor. This year 7 people received this honor.
Encouraged by this award, Yokogawa will continue working to contribute to society and achieve progress in the control industry by developing and introducing advanced control solutions based on excellent control technologies.
Dr. Wilkins' Other Awards and Commendations
Process Automation Hall of Fame
Dr. Wilkins was elected into the Process Automation Hall of Fame, "Class of 2011" - the award was presented at the May 2011 World Batch Forum (WBF) Conference in Newark, Delaware. The Process Automation Hall of Fame was created in 2001 to recognize the contributions made by outstanding process automation professionals working in the process automation and control industry.
Thomas G. Fisher Award
Dr. Wilkins received the Thomas G. Fisher Award from the WBF at the May 2012 ATPM Conference in The Woodlands, TX, along with Bill Wray. Maurice was given the award for his years of leadership at the WBF, including some of its most difficult times during the US recession in the late 2000s. The Thomas G. Fisher Award is awarded in recognition of outstanding leadership in the field of the operation and control of manufacturing processes. The award was established to honor Tom Fisher, a former WBF chairman and a tireless contributor to efforts to improve batch manufacturing standards and methods.
IChemE Fellowship
Dr. Wilkins became a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in March 2013. Once more, this is the highest level of membership for IChemE. A Fellow is an engineering professional of distinction who has made a making significant contribution to the profession by demonstrating technical excellence and leadership of peers. It is recognition of employment in an important position of responsibility in chemical engineering for a sufficient period.
Senior Ambassador
In October 2012, Dr. Wilkins was asked by the Institution of Chemical Engineers to be a Senior Ambassador on their behalf in the USA. This was a high honor to be asked to represent such an esteemed organization in this way.
Institute of Measurement & Control Fellowship
Dr. Wilkins was elected to a Fellowship of the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) in January 2013. This is again, the highest level of membership in InstMC. Election to Fellow is dependent on individuals successfully demonstrating, through technical or other roles, significant contribution to, and superior responsibility in the industry. Their roles should have involved responsibility in a senior corporate, or equivalent, capacity.
