Yokogawa Breaks Ground on Newnan Manufacturing Facility, Paving the Way for Enhanced Efficiency and Cutting-edge Technology

Newnan, Georgia – April 9, 2025

Yokogawa Corporation of America is marking a significant milestone with the launch of an ambitious expansion and modernization project for its Newnan Manufacturing Plant, located south of Atlanta, Georgia. The groundbreaking ceremony for this initiative, titled “Building Tomorrow,” will take place on April 22. This project aims to transform the facility by incorporating advanced digital technologies and upgrading systems, equipment, and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity in manufacturing and refurbishing Yokogawa field devices essential to process industries.

Currently, the Newnan facility produces and assembles a wide range of instruments, including transmitters, flowmeters, analytical equipment, recorders, controllers, and other measurement devices. After completing modernization of the manufacturing plant, the facility will consolidate manufacturing operations, assembly lines, a machine shop, maintenance activities, and a distribution warehouse under one roof. These enhancements are designed to streamline workflows, reduce production times, and improve customer service.

A key highlight of the project is the introduction of an autonomous machine center featuring two automated multi-tasking machines capable of operating around the clock. These machines will consolidate the manufacturing of parts previously requiring up to five separate machines into one streamlined process. Additionally, an advanced automated inventory warehouse for finished goods is set to debut in March 2026. This facility will be the first in the global Yokogawa Group to adopt such cutting-edge technology. The warehouse will feature wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling pallet and bin storage.

The automated warehouse will eliminate manual picking and enable just-in-time delivery of parts to assembly lines using autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). These robots employ advanced navigation technologies such as LiDAR and AI to optimize routes, avoid obstacles, and adapt to real-time changes in the environment. This innovation reduces waste and downtime while ensuring seamless material flow throughout the factory.

“We are thrilled to embark on this ‘Building Tomorrow’ project,” said Bhavin Patel, VP of Manufacturing at Yokogawa Corporation of America. “This initiative not only benefits our customers by reducing lead times but also provides opportunities for local talent in Newnan to engage with world-class manufacturing technologies. By investing in cutting-edge processes and systems, we are committed to delivering exceptional value while fostering a dynamic work environment.”

This comprehensive modernization underscores Yokogawa’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction while positioning the company for sustained growth in the manufacturing sector.
