Overview
What is TBM?
TBM stands for time-based maintenance. TBM is an important method for maintaining stable operation of facilities and improving productivity. TBM is very important because it improves the reliability of facilities and prevents unexpected failures.
By performing TBM you can:
- Detect potential problems early.
- Minimize unplanned facility outages.
- Plan maintenance to avoid unplanned failures and reduce business impacts.
- Extend the life of equipment by controlling degradation and maintaining optimal conditions.
Monitoring and recording operating times
Record the Equipment Operating and Processing Times
The Calculation option (/MT) of the SMARTDAC+ Paperless Recorder (GX10, GX20) provides an elapsed time function that counts the times when certain conditions are met.
Manage Equipment Operating Times
Equipment operating time can be displayed as a combination of days and hours. Operating time can be displayed on the recorder for several years. You can also measure the operating time of multiple devices, reset the operating time after maintenance, and measure the operating time from scratch.
For example, elapsed time can be measured when the digital input from the equipment is turned on as an operating signal, or when the process DATA exceeds a certain threshold.

Managing Equipment Processing Time
In addition to operating time, you can measure and record equipment processing time.
For example:
- Heat treatment process: Counts elapsed time when the temperature is higher than a set temperature.
- Sterilization process: Counts elapsed time when several temperatures fall within a set range.
Processing time application
Reduce Man-Hours by Replacing Chart Recorders
With chart recorders, to confirm whether the specified processing time is being executed, you needed to do the following:
- Record on chart paper and check the length of processing time with a ruler
- Compare it with the master data on the chart paper to see if there was any difference
By using a paperless recorder instead, you can see the processing time at a glance.

Advantages of Paperless Recorders (GX10, GX20)
Operating Time:
- The operating time of a facility can be easily monitored and recorded.
- The monitored operating time can be acquired by higher-level software via communication (Modbus, etc.).
- If the set operating time is exceeded, an alarm or email can be sent.
Processing Time:
- Processing time can be easily monitored and recorded.
- Processing time can be recorded together with process data.
- Recorded processing time can also be acquired by higher-level software via communication (Modbus, etc.).
