If control is unstable after turning ON the power, this controller function automatically determines the optimal PID constant and restores control to a favorable state. Like auto tuning, this is a safe method that does not disturb the item being controlled.
- When power ON
- When set point changes and output is OVER/-OVER
- When a process becomes erratic due to disturbances, it automatically monitors the item being controlled and determines the optimal PID constant.
The principle is based on the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, known for its reliability. If the I/O response is especially short, or if the latency is especially long, the Auto control function may not work. In such cases set the PID constant using auto tuning or by entering it manually.
