We have developed a W-CDMA Baseband Generator for the next generation of mobile communication systems, featuring a 16.384 M chip rate, -70 dBc adjacent channel power ratio, and less than 2% error vector magnitude. Thanks to the VB2000’s flexible design it meets system test, ARIB (Association of Radio Industries and Businesses), and 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) specifications. It can generate up- and down-link signals and allows direct coupling to an LSI through an offset voltage additional function and differential outputs. To meet future demands regular software improvements will be performed.

We have developed Signal Explorer DL7100, a digital oscilloscope with a maximum sampling rate of 1 GS/s and an analog input bandwidth of 500 MHz. The DL7100 has four channels for analog input signals and a channel for 16-bit logic input signals, along with a record length of up to 8 M words per channel.Conventional digital oscilloscopes with large memory were slow, expensive and bulky. With the development of the DSE (Data Stream Engine) which consists of three ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) for data processing, we were able to achieve a display update rate as high as 30 frames per second for a 1M-word record length.
The DL7100 features the Zoom Search function for choosing specific data from large amounts of stream data and the History Search function for choosing specific data from large amounts of captured data. These search functions facilitate the observation of complicated signals and less frequent abnormal phenomena. They are also useful for efficient troubleshooting and reducing the development period.
The development of 11 types of custom ICs for the DL7100, including the above-mentioned DSE, has allowed us to create a compact, reasonably priced oscilloscope comparable to previous models. This paper describes the configuration and functions of the DL7100.

The newly developed digital scope DL716 features 16 channels and a maximum sampling rate of 10 MS/s. The DL716, which succeeds the DL708 (8 channels), further strengthens the DL700 Series. The electronic recording function has been enhanced to allow for the recording of 256 M Word to hard disk drive and fast replay of data. The Replay function allows swift detection of errors in recordings over a long time span and improvements in hardware and software have increased PC compatibility. We standardized all communications ports (SCSI/RS-232/GP-IB) and created PC software with DL main unit features like the Replay History function. This product supports waveform data from PCs in various formats including BMP, and CSV for spreadsheets. The amount of supported analog modules has been increased to seven and the addition of operation menus for all channels has increased flexibility.

We have developed the power analyzer PZ4000 for power measurement and waveform observation. This new concept power analyzer features a trend display for the measurement of transient power and a span measurement function. Despite having a wide bandwidth of DC-2 MHz which facilitates the accurate measurement of switching control waveforms or fluctuating power and a fast sampling rate of 5 MS/s, it is capable of precise measurements at an accuracy of (±0.1% of reading +0.025% of range). It can analyze wide band distorted waveforms with a maximum harmonic analysis order of 500 th . This paper contains an overview of the instrument.

The newly developed TA520 Time Interval Analyzer features a time resolution of 25 ps, internal jitter of 100 psrms, and a continuous sampling rate of 43 MS/s. The analyzer is an enhanced version of the TA320, now equipped with an internal printer and hard disk drive in addition to a high resolution and high speed sampling rate. Extra functions such as ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) analysis have been added to meet the increasing development in efficiency of the rapidly developing optical disk market.

The newly developed DX series of paperless recorders features a maximum of 30 analog input channels, removable storage media, various graphical options, IEC529-IP65 compliance, and networking capability. The DX series of recorders allows for the configuration of a distributed data acquisition system over a network.
This paper outlines the key features of the DAQSTATION DX100/200 series.

We have developed a PC software package called DAQLOGGER for the μR, VR and DX series. This software allows real-time data acquisition, for data viewing and hardware configuration. As the process of acquiring data from hardware has priority over other DAQLOGGER processes, we separated the process from the user interface. One thread is assigned to each communication port connected to recorders. This allows for data acquisition from multiple recorders, through a maximum of 384 channels at intervals as short as one second. A maximum of 32 recorders (μR, VR and DX series combined) can be connected through an Ethernet, RS-232 and / or RS-422A / 485 network.
ENGINEERING TECHNIQUE FOR SUCCESSFUL ADVANCED CONTROL OF ...

Multi-Variable Control (MVC) allows for improved stability of plant control and significant reductions in operation costs compared with traditional PID control. However, whether or not the introduction of MVC is successful depends on the identification of an accurate process model and the selection of appropriate control, manipulation and disturbance variables. In order to create an accurate model, it is necessary to carry out sufficient process testing and evaluation based on the deep insight gained through chemical engineering.
The identification of a model that fulfils only the aim of minimizing model prediction errors is incorrect. Great care must therefore be taken when evaluating the model, especially, when insufficient step response data or feedback control data has been used. An inappropriate selection of controlled, manipulated and disturbance variables will result in unstable control, even if the model fits the process very well. Non-correlated process variables should be selected as controlled variables, and independent process variables should be selected as manipulated or disturbance variables. In this paper, an MVC engineering technique which focuses on model identification, and the evaluation of model controllability through the ‘condition number’ of its gain matrix are described.

Modeling and simulation technology is one of the key factors in the development of operation support systems, operation training simulators and advanced control systems. EQUATRAN-G, an all-purpose equation solver, enables the calculation of various types of mathematical models by simply describing equations. Therefore, it is possible to create dynamic models for these systems efficiently. This article describes the functions of EQUATRAN-G and gives an actual example of the utilization of EQUATRAN-G in an optimization control system for process modeling.
