Harry? Have you seen Harry? I found him: He is busy with the analyzer container at plant 3 because it causes problems again. Already for the third time this month. But no wonder, the analyzer has more than 20 years on its back. It should have been replaced years ago.
But the situation is like this: The plant itself will be completely replaced in five years, this is why new investments for the analyzer technique won’t be made.
Harry knows about the old treasure. He is familiar with the pitfalls and quirks of the device. Whenever the container didn’t work in the past, he made it running again. But Harry will be retiring in two years. Who will take care of the analyzer container then? Will his long-standing expertise be gone?
You would have to take a closer look at the container and see if it can be made fit again for a few years without having to redo everything. It’s not necessary to buy everything new. The gas chromatograph (GC) is actually still quite robust. To be honest, you don’t buy a new car just because the tires are worn out, don’t you? That can’t be too much trouble.
Couldn’t one of the analyzer system integrators realize that? But they’re all just looking at big, fat greenfield projects. So it might be totally uninteresting for them to get a small part of a brownfield facility going again.
Is that actually the situation? Does this scenario about system integration seem well-known to you?
One-stop-shop!
Yokogawa has been providing ASI (Analyzer System Integration) for more than 50 years. At the ACHEMA 2018 exhibition in Germany, the ASI has been finally shown. The message is One-stop-shop! Everything from a single source. The fact that Yokogawa can implement large greenfield projects, e.g. with 75 gas chromatographs in 15 analysis houses, has long been repeatedly proven. These are, of course, showcase projects.
This is how it looks on the basis of a representation of the service components:
Other support for system integration
Are you still interested in another setting? Maybe you will find yourself in this one.
The analysis solution has existed for a long time, but resources are tight. In addition, the plant manufacturer is not located in the vicinity but controls his repair and maintenance operations from his home location. That these deployments increase is due to the age of the plant. And due to the fact that the investment for the replacement of the plant is still to be made is due to the company’s outstanding strategic decisions (as is the case today). However, the customer is interested in maintenance and troubleshooting by the nearby Yokogawa branch.
The range of services in question looks like this:
ASI in size XS
If you think, we can only execute big projects and your project might be too small, you are totally wrong. The smallest ASI project Yokogawa has conducted was a utility panel for a laser spectrometer. The project management consisted of just an Excel page and some text. The panel was manufactured at a Yokogawa partner near the customer and Yokogawa. It was then delivered to the customer. A suitable reference for a project with relatively little effort, don’t you agree?
