Course Description
This is an engineering course designed for personnel who will configure, maintain, and program, using functional block diagrams and user-defined function blocks, in the Yokogawa ProSafe-RS Safety System.

Objectives/Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the learner will be able to exhibit the ability to:
- Setup and configure ProSafe-RS hardware
- Program safety function blocks and user-defined function blocks
- Integrate ProSafe-RS with Centum VP or CS3000 process control system
Intended Audience
ll System/Process Engineers or Technicians whom are responsible for performing design and configuration procedures for the ProSafe-RS system.
Course Prerequisites
- Centum VP Operations Course or Higher recommended
Technical Requirements
- Basic file/folder manipulation in a Windows environment
- Knowledge of Centum Control Window or Operator Window
- Basic Logic design

Each learner will be provided with the appropriate course workbook.
Requirements to Be Awarded Certification
- Submit completed course Registration Form
- Fulfill financial obligations
- Fulfill the 90% attendance requirement by signing-in each day of facilitated course
- Fulfill the 70% or above overall scoring requirement on labs and projects

Course Syllabus
Day 1
- Define “Risk Analysis” and “Safety” Procedures
- Identify the “Safety Standards” used in the Process Industry
- Compare “Distributed Control Systems” and “Safety Systems”
- Identify the major components and uses of the ProSafe-RS hardware
- Navigate through the SCS Manager (Workbench) software
- Identify the various project Application Builders for ProSafe-RS hardware
Day 2
- Define ProSafe-RS project “Security Level” setting and procedures
- Identify ProSafe-RS “Password” setting options and procedures
- Create a ProSafe-RS project using Function Blocks
- Perform virtual “simulation mode” on the ProSafe-RS project
- Identify and explain the ProSafe-RS “debug mode” procedure
- Identify and explain ProSafe-RS “Locking and Forcing” procedures
- Explain and perform an “Offline Download” of the ProSafe-RS project
- Perform “debugging mode” in the ProSafe-RS project
- Perform SCS Simulation (Test Function) mode procedures
Day 3
- Define and create “Instances” within the ProSafe-RS project
- Define and create “typicals” within the ProSafe-RS project
- Define and create “User-defined Function Blocks” within the ProSafe-RS project
- Identify various function blocks used for integration with the Centum DCS
- Create a ProSafe-RS project utilizing integrating function blocks
- Perform ProSafe-RS and Centum integration procedures
- Control and monitor integration function blocks via HIS
Day 4
- Design a ProSafe-RS project using functional specifications
- Identify and create the ProSafe-RS project using advanced function blocks
- Perform project verification and analysis for project downloading
- Perform “integration” with this project
- Control and monitor from HIS for proper project operation
Day 5
- Perform “database” maintenance procedures on a ProSafe-RS project
- Define and perform “Version Control Tool” procedures on a project
- Identify and define the use of “Sequence of Event” function blocks
- Launch the Sequence of Events viewer for verification of operation
