CS 3000 & Centum VP Networking Training
Course # 4000
Course Description
This course consists of lectures, demonstrations, and question and answer sessions designed to prepare the student the configure and troubleshoot the VNET/IP Network in the CS3000 and Centum VP Systems, including the configuration of layer 2 and layer 3 network switches

Objectives/Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the learner will be able to exhibit the ability to:
- Verify network settings on any HIS or FCS
- Correctly physically connect the various System and networking devices
- Configure CISCO layer 2 and layer 3 switches
- Identify layer 2 & 3 addresses and their role as it relates to the OSI model
- Explain the function of DHCP and DNS in a network
- Install, configure, and use an TFTP server
- Configure at least a 3 Domain System
- Backup and restore Switch Configuration
- Troubleshoot and fix several common configuration errors

Engineers or maintenance technicians who are responsible for configuring, maintaining, or troubleshooting the CS3000 and Centum VP Systems

- CS 3000/Centum VP Maintenance OR CS3000/Centum VP Engineering

- Submit completed course Registration Form
- Fulfill financial obligations
- Fulfill the 90% attendance requirement by signing-in each day of facilitated course
- Fulfill the 70% or above overall scoring requirement on labs and projects

Day 1
- Networking Principles required for configuring the CS3000 and Centum VP and Network switches
- Troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues in a Network
- Using PING, traceroute, and IPCONFIG /AL
Day 2
- CISCO layer 2 switch configuration for the CS3000 and Centum VP System o Router Operation
- CISCO layer 3 switch configuration for multiple CS3000 and Centum VP System domains
- Install, configure, and use an TFTP server to save and restore CISCO configurations
- Troubleshooting common Switch configuration errors
- Build a multiple domain Data Base
- Downloading and Troubleshooting Network issues using packets information
- Changing addresses on the VNET/IP Network
- Resetting the VI701 card addresses.

Course Description
This course is an add on to the CS3000 and Centum VP Networking Training Course 4000. This course consists of lectures, demonstrations, and question and answer sessions designed to prepare the student the configure and troubleshoot the VNET/IP Network in the CS3000 and Centum VP Systems, including the configuration of layer 2 and layer 3 network switches.

1 Day (held directly following the CS3000 and Centum VP Networking Training Course 4000)
Objectives/Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the learner will be able to exhibit the ability to:

This course consists of lectures, demonstrations, reading assignments, practice tests and question and answer sessions designed to prepare the student to pass the Comptia A+ Essentials exam.
Duration
7 days
This course is broken into three portions:
- The first portion consists of a three day introduction to concepts and materials
- The second section consists of the student completing the assigned reading and practice testing. This portion is to be competed outside the classroom. Estimated time: 4-6 weeks
- The third portion consists of 4 days of practice tests and discussion with the fifth day culminating in the taking of the actual A+ Essentials Exam at an official testing center.
Objectives/Outcomes
Upon completing this course, the learner will successfully complete the A+ Essentials Exam at an official testing center.
