Tokyo, Japan - December 16, 2022

Water A List stamp 2022

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on water security by global environmental non-profit CDP*, securing a place on its annual 'A List' in this area for the third time. Based on data reported through CDP's 2022 Water Security questionnaire, Yokogawa Electric is one of a small number of companies that achieved an 'A' out of more than 10,000 companies assessed. The evaluation reflects how the company continues to demonstrate leadership through ambitious targets, action, and transparency regarding sustainable water management.

Yokogawa Electric has set the number of solutions provided for water environment improvement and the amount of water used at Yokogawa sites as key performance indicators (KPIs). In the water business, Yokogawa has already been involved in more than 1,000 projects in various countries around the world, including the water infrastructure business in Japan. Utilizing its extensive experience and digital solutions cultivated through these projects, it is working to solve increasingly serious water issues. In 2021, the company received an order to build a water supply management system in Senegal, which will improve access to safe water and prevent water leakage, and in 2022, an order was received from the capital of Ethiopia for an integrated water facility management system. Through such activities, the company is providing solutions for improving water supply and sewage infrastructure around the world.

Regarding initiatives at Yokogawa business sites, the company is working to reduce water intake by improving production processes and introducing water-saving systems for tap water used in offices. Furthermore, in regions where securing water resource is a serious challenge, Yokogawa is promoting measures related to water resources such as monitoring water usage and securing alternative water resources.

CDP's annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. In 2022, over 680 investors with over US$130 trillion in assets and 280 major purchasers with US$6.4 trillion in procurement spend requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP's platform. A record-breaking 18,700 companies responded. A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess these companies, allocating a score of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.
