Yokogawa Singapore Celebrates Opening of New Building
with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew as Guest of Honor



To set the stage for the continued growth of the Yokogawa Group's successful industrial automation (IA) and control business, a 12-story building has recently been constructed on the premises of Yokogawa Singapore. Customers and Singaporean government officials including Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew were invited to an opening ceremony on July 3, and he participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Coinciding with this event, the Yokogawa Group held a Yokogawa Technology Innovations Fair July 3 - 7, and this was attended by 1,850 customers in total.

Yokogawa Singapore plays a critical and strategic role in production, engineering, software development, and other activities that will help the Yokogawa Group achieve its target of becoming the top global IA player by 2010. This new building will house the headquarters of Yokogawa Electric International, which supervises all global  operations with the exception of Japan, Korea, and China; Yokogawa Engineering Asia, which is responsible for all operations in Southeast Asia and Oceania; and Yokogawa Electric Asia, which oversees the production of production control systems. It will also be home to the Yokogawa Global Engineering Solution Center, a 24/7 customer call center that will provide services to the Southeast Asia and Oceania region, and the Singapore Development Center, which develops application software packages. As such, this new building will serve as the center of the Yokogawa Group's international and regional operations.

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who has had strong ties with Yokogawa since the establishment of Yokogawa Electric Singapore in 1974, had the following to say at the opening ceremony: "Singapore has a well trained workforce and managers and engineers who understand 'the Japanese way' and can help Japanese MNCs to complement their own high-cost managers and engineers" 

The Yokogawa Technology Innovations Fair in Singapore introduced Yokogawa's product and technology innovations, current key products, and future technology development efforts, thus demonstrating the Group's overall strengths.  Customers were impressed by Yokogawa's successful performance in a wide range of fields, including the core fields of IA & control and test & measurement, as well as aerospace instruments, life sciences, and photonics.  Technology Innovations Fair held from July 3 to 7
