Yokogawa Electric Corporation is proud to announce the milestone shipment of its 10,000th 6-inch liquid crystal flat panel display for aviation use.
Liquid crystal flat panel displays are installed in aircraft cockpits to indicate flight information such as aircraft attitude, direction, altitude, and speed, as well as the operating status of engines and other aircraft systems.
Since their release to the market in January 2002, our 6-inch liquid crystal flat panel displays have been installed in Airbus A320 Family and A330/A340 Family aircraft by Thales Avionics S.A., a French aerospace electronics manufacturer.
As airplanes have grown larger and faster in recent years, technologies that enhance reliability and safety have been achieving dramatic progress. In order to be able to display ever greater amounts of data, our liquid crystal FPDs can switch between multiple screens.
To ensure the safe operation of aircraft, displays must also be sharp and easy to read when viewed from any angle day and night. Our liquid crystal FPDs feature high resolution, high contrast, and low reflectivity, thus ensuring excellent visibility for the pilot. With their good resistance to changes in temperature and altitude and to vibration and shock, these displays perform well in the tough operating environment of aircraft.
Our liquid crystal FPDs are highly rated by both Thales Avionics S.A. and Airbus S.A.S., and have been installed on all Airbus aircraft currently in production.
