Yokogawa Rolls Out New Addition to Its Top-selling μR Series
Industrial Recorder

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the development of the μR10000, the latest addition to the μR series of advanced industrial recorders. The μR10000 will go on sale on November 9. The μR10000 is designed for use with 100-mm wide recording charts and is the successor to the μR1000, which has been a best seller in this product category since its launch in 1992 thanks to its excellent reliability and advanced functions. Thanks to its use of state-of-the-art technologies, the μR10000 now offers even better reliability, weighs less, and consumes less power than its predecessor while offering the same excellent functionality.

Development Background
Chart recorders have won wide acceptance in many different fields because operators are able to visually verify measured data on the spot and write notes directly onto the recording charts, and the μR1000 has been the global top-seller in this product category since it first went on sale in 1992. While it inherits all the functions that have made the μR series so popular with operators, the new μR10000 also meets the latest user requirements through the incorporation of such features as a large display and Ethernet compatibility.

Product Features
1. Improved Data Display and Simplified Setup
The μR10000’s large full dot matrix VFD* dramatically improves the display of measurement data and allows greater flexibility in how that data can be viewed by, for example, enabling the combined display of measured numerical values and bar graphs. In addition, the μR10000 has an interactive setup navigation function that greatly simplifies the initial parameter setup procedure for operators.
* VFD is short for vacuum fluorescent display, a display device that applies vacuum tube technology and is widely used in on-vehicle and industrial equipment.

2. Improved Reliability, Low Power Consumption, and Reduced Weight
The number of components has been dramatically decreased through the use of advanced molding technology and by downsizing and densely integrating mechanical parts such as servomotors. The μR10000 takes reliability to a higher level and its power consumption and weight have been reduced by 30% or more.

3. A Wider Choice of Recording and Printing Functions
The traces can be compressed or expanded partially to record data according to the measurement conditions. In addition, charts can be divided into recording zones to record trends. It is also possible to print measured data, points of alarm occurrence/cancellation, and messages.

4. Ethernet Compatibility (Optional)
Measured data can be acquired over an Ethernet, in addition to the conventional RS-422A/RS-485 interfaces.

The μR10000 is targeted at manufacturing operations, particularly those in the process sector, and includes such industries as power generation, water supply and drainage, petrochemicals, chemicals, steel, pulp and paper, electric and electronic equipment, foods, and pharmaceuticals. The targeted application for the μR10000 is the measurement of production process data such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and chemical composition.

Yokogawa's Approach Toward This Field
Since the release of the ER series of electron-tube auto-balancing recorders in 1952, a first for Japan, Yokogawa has sold more than 1.2 million industrial recorders and earned the leading market share worldwide. The μR100 recorder was the first to incorporate a microprocessor and became the world’s best-selling product when it was introduced to the market in 1985. In 1992, Yokogawa took the lead in this market by releasing the μR1000 recorder, which employed high-voltage solid-state relays and brushless DC servomotors to achieve advanced reliability. Over the years, Yokogawa has remained at the forefront of the global recorder market. The company aims to further expand its recorder sales by newly releasing the third-generation μR10000 recorder in response to the latest market needs.
