Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its Taiwan affiliate, Yokogawa Taiwan Corporation, has been awarded a contract to supply the production control system for a world-class ethylene plant that is being built in Taiwan by Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC). FPCC is a major petrochemicals manufacturer that operates large-scale plants in Taiwan, Texas, and other locations, and is a subsidiary of the Formosa Group, a leading Taiwanese manufacturing concern.
The ethylene plant currently under construction in central Taiwan (Mailiao, Yunlin County) is due to be completed in October 2006 and will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons. As the plant instrumentation system vendor for this major project, Yokogawa Taiwan will deliver the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 integrated production control system, Advanced Operation Assistance (AOA), Plant Resource Manager (PRM), and other system components by October 2005. The total value of this contract is approximately five million US dollars.
Yokogawa’s success in winning this order is due to the trustworthiness and reliability of the field instruments that Yokogawa Taiwan has delivered to FPCC in the past, and the high praise it has received for its performance in delivering production control systems to top petrochemical companies. The fruits of Yokogawa’s expanded operations focusing on Asian markets are manifesting themselves.
With the production control system order for this large-scale project as an impetus, Yokogawa will also continue to aim to win up-and-coming planned orders for field instruments, as well as to secure even more orders in oil- and petrochemical-related projects which are enjoying a worldwide boom.
