Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the award of two major fieldbus-based control system projects. Yokogawa, a major contributor and promoter of Foundation fieldbus technology, has been selected by major users to supply the Yokogawa fieldbus-ready CENTUM CS3000 integrated control system as well as many of their fieldbus registered field devices for major projects. The most recent of these projects are the Scarab Saffron project and the Assuit Refinery New CDU project.

Burullus Gas Company, Egypt, recently awarded a fieldbus project to Yokogawa after a detailed evaluation. Under the contract, Yokogawa will provide a total instrumentation solution to the on- shore portion of the West Delta Deep Marine Concession of the Scarab Saffron Development Project. This project is valued at $3.4 Million (USD) including the fieldbus ready control system and the field instruments. Delivery of the system is scheduled for July 2002.
ENNPI, the engineering and procurement contractor for the Assuit Refinery, awarded a fieldbus project for a CENTUM CS 3000 integrated control system and the Yokogawa ProSafe safety system for the emergency shutdown system. This project covers the new Crude Distillation Unit plant as well as the expansion of the existing Vapor Recovery Unit. The system is planned for startup in June 2002.
Over 800 Yokogawa Fieldbus Foundation registered field devices will be used for both monitoring and control on these projects. To insure proper implementation of the fieldbus technology, Yokogawa will actively participate in the design and engineering of field segments.
