GASTECH is the largest international conference and exhibition for the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries. GASTECH marked its 23rd year in 2008, and was hosted by the PTT Group from March 10 to 13 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Thailand. Under the theme “Where the commercial and technical gas worlds meet,” GASTECH was designed as a platform for key corporate and technical decision makers and influencers of the international gas community to exchange information, showcase the latest technologies, and explore collaborations. More than 300 companies from 37 countries with capabilities in the exploration, production, processing, storage, and transportation of natural gas and LNG participated in the show.

Yokogawa has been a regular participant at GASTECH. This year was a joint effort of Yokogawa Headquarters, Yokogawa Engineering Asia, and Yokogawa Thailand, with each playing either a leading or supporting role in key activities to ensure the success of the event.

In line with the theme “VigilantPlant - the clear path to Operational Excellence,” Yokogawa participated in GASTECH 2008 to present its advanced, field-proven automation solutions for the upstream gas production industry and the total supply chain of liquefaction, transportation, re-gasification, and terminals. As the preferred partner of major global oil & gas companies, Yokogawa showcased its latest success stories with projects in the upstream oil and gas sectors that involved the application of cutting-edge technologies such as FOUNDATIONTM™ fieldbus, FDT/DTM, metering, CCTV, wireless solutions, and FAST/TOOLS SCADA for total plant operational excellence.

In addition, following the official regional launch in Singapore on February 5, Yokogawa displayed, for the first time in Thailand, its latest new technology platform for plant operational excellence, CENTUM VP. This proved to be a main attraction, and there were many enquiries from visitors wanting to know its key benefits.

The Yokogawa booth had an innovative, curvy design and provided a steady flow of information on Yokogawa’s complete range of upstream solutions for offshore production, gas separation, pipeline management, LNG liquefaction, LNG tanker control, re-gasification, and terminals. Yokogawa staff guided visitors through the booth and were also posted at each exhibit to ensure that the key propositions were articulated to each and every visitor. Besides the new opportunities that were created through interaction with close to 570 registered visitors, we gained mileage in many potential customers who participated in this esteemed exhibition.


The exhibition was another highly successful event for Yokogawa and we look forward to participating in the next GASTECH event in Dubai.
